Sonny and His Wild Cows
This programme is held in Hungarian.
Since its opening, the House of Music has regarded it as its mission to present the musical life of Hungarian cities outside the capital. The next stop of the City in the House series is: Sopron. The festival presenting the musical life of the most faithful Hungarian city will take place in the spirit of the diversity characteristic of the House, and is jointly organized by the House of Music and the city of Sopron. On the first day of the festival, Saturday, the Petőfi Band, the band of the artists of the Sopron Petőfi Theatre, will perform, as well as Sonny, who was born in Sopron and who, together with his band Sonny and His Wild Cows, will evoke America of the 1940s and 1950s – rockabilly, rhythm and blues. On Sunday, the Fajkusz Banda, Sopron’s renowned folk music ensemble, will play. Before that, there will be Sunday Music, a chamber music concert with a bourgeois atmosphere featuring musicians marrying into or out of Sopron: pianist László Legendy and violinist Eszter Lesták-Bedő, as well as members of the Wespa Quartett. Meanwhile, in the Club Library there will be a Record Spinner program with recordings of the Sopron Liszt Ferenc Symphony Orchestra, including works by composers from Sopron (József Soproni, Jenő Takács, Sándor Szokolay), and there will also be a pop-up exhibition with panels by Sándor Szokolay.
The band Sonny and his Wild Cows, formed in 2002, has for many years been a popular participant at major blues, rock and roll, and jazz festivals and clubs across Europe; they have appeared in 19 countries, often as the first Hungarian act at many long-established festivals. Their program presents the sultry musical world of 1940s and 1950s America: an astonishingly exciting mix of rhythm and blues, early rock and roll, blues, rockabilly, gospel, and other period genres, performed in an authentic vintage style.

The City of Loyalty exhibition around the House
Since the opening of the House of Music, it has been part of our mission to present the musical life of Hungarian cities, and it was with this aim that our City in the House series was created. Within this framework, provincial cities with rich musical and cultural life, such as Szeged, Pécs, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, and Debrecen, have already presented their diverse musical life, outstanding ensembles, arts festivals, and emerging talents in a colorful cavalcade of programs. The City in the House series embodies the House’s mission: in the Szeged program offer, genre diversity and educational content appear side by side, while also giving future talents an opportunity to present themselves.
Dear Visitor, We kindly inform you that during the event, photographs, audio recordings, and/or video recordings may be taken. By attending the event, you consent to the recording of such materials through your implied conduct.
