Noémi Győri flutist, Suzana Bartal pianist, and Erich Berghammer scent artist offer an extraordinary evening that provides a rarely experienced multisensory delight: at the concert inspired by ancient Indian and Japanese scent ceremonies, the three creators explore the synergies between sounds and scents together with the audience. Along with the musical compositions, live-mixed organic scent aromas are paired, creating a complete harmony of the senses alongside the various melodies and tones. This is an experience you surely haven't had before, so it's not to be missed!
The concert will begin with two pieces by Reena Esmail, a young composer of Indian descent living in America: Zinfandel, which reflects on the highly influential Indian musical traditions for the composer, and the second movement of her virtuosic flute sonata—both premieres in Hungary. This is followed by some excerpts from the popular classic, Robert Schumann's Forest Scenes, then a French contemporary neoclassical composer Éric Tanguy's Afterwards, also a domestic premiere. The program concludes with a flute and piano arrangement of an early work by Edward Elgar, a prominent figure of late English Romanticism. Paralleling the music, Erich Berghammer's hand-crafted aromas transform the resonating melodies and tones into scents, linking with the two instrumentalists' performances to create a rich and captivating experience that is guaranteed to engage all the audience's senses.
