Klári Csernók: Violin playing

This programme is held in Hungarian.

Violin. But what kind? Reed? Classical? Funnel-shaped? Resonant strings?

The violin, known and loved by many, is a popular instrument in numerous musical genres. In this performance, we will show you a lesser-known side of it, focusing on the folk music traditions of the Carpathian Basin. We will take an imaginary journey through space and time, learning about the history of the violin, special types of violins, and ways of playing them. The performance will be given by Klári Csernók, the eponymous leader of her band, which was formed in 2015 at the request of Éva Korpás, a singer from Upper Hungary, and has since provided regular musical accompaniment for several folk dance groups and is a regular guest at dance houses and folk pubs.
