Rehearsal Room Secrets: Clara and Robert Schumann Piano Trios in G Minor
This programme is held in Hungarian.
Várallyay Kinga (piano), Korossy-Khayll Csongor (violin) and Dolfin Balázs (cello) offer us an extraordinary initiation: the three excellent young musicians undertake to acquaint the audience with a slice of their joint working process, and all this through two masterpieces by the Schumann couple. Their concert will shed light on the workshop process that typically takes place during a chamber music rehearsal, where not only three instruments that function in completely different ways but also the—often quite strong—ideas of three performers must be brought into alignment. In performing the works they will present both the musical challenges that arise and the beauty inherent in them, and then their various ideas for how to carry them out. We will also learn how and why they decide in favor of one or another solution, and it may even happen that they involve adventurous members of the audience in their decisions, who will be able to actively instruct the rehearsal process.
Várallyay Kinga, a pianist, is currently a doctoral candidate at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, a prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, and has performed in Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland. Korossy-Khayll Csongor, a violinist awarded the Junior Prima Prize, is also a student of the Academy's Doctoral School, as well as a founding member and first violinist of the Korossy Quartet, with which he reached the finals of the Bartók World Competition. Cellist Dolfin Balázs, who comes from a family of musicians, was likewise honoured with the Junior Prima Prize for his talent and dedication, and in 2025 he received the Cziffra Festival Talent Award. The three musicians regularly perform together; they appeared to a full house at the House of Hungarian Music two years ago.
