Tó Trips is a musician, guitarist, and composer who has been a defining figure in the Portuguese music scene for over three decades. He achieved his greatest international recognition with the blues, jazz, folk, and rock duo Dead Combo, founded together with Pedro Gonçalves, with which he toured worldwide and released albums. In his extensive and award-winning body of work – alongside many smaller projects and formations – the world of applied music is important, with many of his songs appearing in films. This unique sound brought him many commissions to compose music for films and series, maintaining a continuous close relationship with the world of cinema and audiovisual arts. On this evening, he shares the stage with the Terra Profonda trio, active for thirteen years now. The Hungarian band, which also tours abroad, features Kiss Krisztián from the folk music scene, Szabó Mátyás from jazz and progressive music, and the Palermo-born singer Vincenzo Lo Buglio who comes from the darker, heavier genres. The compositions of Terra Profonda are positioned somewhere between roots, folk, chanson, and americana, featuring – among other themes – weary loves, big game, and flickering ports brought to life by Vincenzo's shamanic baritone. The trio has been traveling Europe for more than ten years with their unusual, excitingly arranged songs, bearing witness to Ali Farka Touré meeting Tom Waits, and members of the Muzsikás Ensemble toasting with Wovenhand to the health of Townes Van Zandt.
