Boró & Sárkánygarbó

One evening, two great bands, Sárkánygarbó and Boró – shortlisted for Keret Kikeltető 2025 – on the Open-Air Stage of the House of Music. Sárkánygarbó is an acoustic singer-songwriter duo, the formation of Petra Kóródi (guitar, vocals) and Emese Tóth (ukulele, vocals); in their lyric-centered songs they sing about rural life, moving up to Budapest, loves, pains, and psychological torments, all blended with folk song motifs. Bese Szórád also recently joined the formation, who, with several instruments, eases the duo’s sorrowful melancholy.

Sárkánygarbó has been performing for several years at various cultural venues in Budapest, and since the spring of 2025 they have been working on recording their first full-length album. The record – as a symbol of moving up from the Great Hungarian Plain and growing up – bears the title On This Side of the Tisza, and from January 10 it is available on all streaming platforms (producer and instrumentation: Bese Szórád).

Although they have been making music together for years, a significant event in the shaping of their band was the NagyElőadó talent show organized by the Bartók Quarter in 2024, where, out of 70 applicants, they first made it to the semifinals, and then could also play in the final held at Dürer Kert, where, as a result of placing third, they won an opportunity to perform at the Valley of Arts festival. Since the talent show, they have appeared in many places around Budapest and also had the chance to play as guests of Carson Coma.
