RoBi 50 – An Author’s Evening Celebrating Róbert Bérczesi’s 50th Birthday
This programme is held in Hungarian.
RoBi 50 – that is, Róbert Bérczesi, the songwriter-singer-guitarist of hiperkarma, Blabla, and Biorobot – is celebrating his fiftieth birthday at the House of Music with an evening dedicated to his songs.
BéRCZeSi RóBeRT was born on 12 September 1976 in Gyula, but he spent his childhood years in Komló.
It was there, at the age of fourteen, that he decided to become a songwriter, and after moving up to Budapest on 2 September 1996 and releasing a relatively unsuccessful album with his high school band BlaBla as the winner of the grand prize at a nationwide music talent show, he decided to sail into new waters, and in 2000 he founded hiperkarma all by himself, which then brought him the long-awaited breakthrough with the songs on its very first, untitled album.
At the same time, our hero became a daily hard‑drug user and remained one for the next twenty years, right up until 6 August 2020, when, after many attempts, he finally managed to free himself for good from the demonic grip of narcotics, and was granted the grace to begin a new life still in this body.
In the years since, piling success upon success, he has been living and working happily as a living example and eloquent proof that there is a way out of everywhere, even from the darkest pits of hell.
A believer in God, a fan of films, comic books, biographies, and the Beatles, and, in addition, the happy owner of roughly two hundred and fifty songs.
He currently lives in Budapest.
