The special Verist, a contemporary and friend of the great Italian late Romantic composers Puccini and Mascagni, Perosi narrates the Passion of Jesus in an unusual work. The Passion, simplified into three scenes, transports the listener to the past with its expansive, emotional world combined with a kind of nostalgic archaism, paying homage to 300 years of Passion literature. The musical piece, hardly ever heard in Hungary, is a masterpiece in nearly every detail - thus it is worth delving into its depths.
