Bagossy Brothers Company: 10 years on the road (2023)

A decade of history condensed into a single feature film - from its beginnings in Székely Land to the best moments of their jubilee grand concert at MVM Dome in Budapest. The Bagossy Brothers Company: 10 Years on the Road (also published as a book in 2023) follows the journey of the band members who uniquely blend pop, rock, and folk styles, with plenty of musical interludes, interviews, background information, and concert footage. This film not only speaks to the ever-growing fan base of Bagossy Brothers Company but also to those who are just getting to know the band from Gyergyó, its history, and its musical world.

Director: Dina Könyves

After the fresh Anglo-Saxon music films of spring 2025 and the three feature-length documentaries in autumn 2025, Hungarians are again in the spotlight in the spring 2026 lineup of the Rock Film Club. Kicking off, an animated film processing real events for adults (Blue Pelikan) will be screened. In March, we will show "There Was a Tower" (a portrait film of Mihály Víg), who was a defining creator of the early '80s Hungarian underground, a laid-back, funny character who is aware of his limitations, doesn't deny the darker sides of his personality, but is able to look at his fate with satisfaction. In April, we can follow the first ten years of the existence of the Bagossy Brothers Company, which uniquely blends the attributes of pop, rock, and folk. As the closure of this four-episode mini-series, the audiovisual “project” Balaton Method, introduced with great success ten years ago, will be shown. After the screenings, the professional colleague from the Popcultural Club Library, Béla Szilárd Jávorszky, will talk with the film directors.

Contemporary Hungarian film and (rock) music have been in contact practically since the late 1960s. Sometimes more intensively, sometimes more loosely, but they are essentially inseparable.  Before the screenings, Béla Szilárd Jávorszky will talk briefly about the genesis and pop-historical significance of these works, followed by a discussion with a guest film aesthetics expert on the relevant domestic and international trends.
