This programme is held in Hungarian.
Kokopelli Jazz Matiné performs for children in a way that is unique in the country. They put on a Jazz Matiné, during which the seven-member jazz band gives interactive, playful concerts for preschool and early elementary school children. The program is enriched with lots of games, activities, and interesting musical ideas, all set to colorful, lively music. Through the use of a wide range of props, the children are gently immersed in jazz’s rich harmonic world, with its varied rhythmic patterns, lively instrumental improvisations, famous reworkings from jazz history, and diverse solos by the horn section. The performance also includes short instrument demonstrations to help the children understand the music and make the experience of playing music more tangible and accessible. The band’s aim is to perform its own compositions and lyrics and use jazz to keep children’s improvisational skills alive, while encouraging the development and everyday use of creative problem-solving through improvisation. The warmth and humor of the two hosts, Eszter and Niki, keep the children engaged throughout, so they remain active participants in the concert from beginning to end.
