Szervezés:
Juli Deák and Virág Réti are both members of the younger generation of musicians featured on the compilation album from the SZELEKTOR26 (By Telekom Electronic Beats) talent competition, and both received the House of Music Special Award. As a result, they will give immersive concerts accompanied by live visuals in the Dome, the House of Music’s special audiovisual space. Juli Deák plays the flute, using a circular breathing technique that is rare worldwide on her instrument. With quiet focus, she is shaping the contemporary music scene: a classically trained musician open to improvisation and influences from jazz and folk music. Her concert will engage in dialogue with visuals by WURKIKONA. Virág Réti, known also as the founder and organizer of Still Places, a Budapest-based experimental electronic event series, moves on the boundaries between electronic, experimental and ambient music in her compositions. Her set will also be accompanied by live visuals, with Dániel Németh filling the Dome’s domed screen. Before and after the concerts, and between the two performances—in the foyer on the exhibition level—the Flying Bird Tea House will offer free tea, making the evening even more welcoming.
Juli Deák
With her quiet yet assured presence, flutist, composer and improviser Juli Deák has become one of the new distinctive voices on the contemporary music scene. Born in Budapest to a Polish-Hungarian family, she began playing the flute at the age of seven, then went on to pursue advanced classical music studies in Kraków and Stockholm. Alongside her thorough academic training, her art is shaped by an openness to improvisation, jazz and folk music, lending her playing a special depth and sense of purpose. A wider audience discovered her in April 2026, when her debut solo album, Brisk (thanatosis), was released. She has since presented it at Intonal, Norbergfestival and the MENT festival in Ljubljana, among others.
At the heart of Juli Deák’s artistic interests is the physical nature of her instrument: in performance, she treats the flute as an extension of her own body. Rather than masking sounds traditionally considered disruptive or undesirable, she foregrounds them: amplifying the breath, the flow of air, sonic distortions, and the mechanical sounds of the keys and metal body. Circular breathing is a defining element of her work, demonstrating extraordinary virtuosity, while her playing is marked by deep humility and patience. On stage, she is unafraid to show her own vulnerability and the person behind the instrumentalist. She also consciously embraces her female voice and identity, and consistently remains true to her own vision in her artistic choices.
Her commitment to shared experimentation and discovery has led to collaborations with numerous symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles. Her latest project is The Evens, Rahma, created with Abdullah Miniawy and Isak Hedtjärn, and already presented in Berlin and London. This autumn, Juli will continue to expand the boundaries of her musical world: she will embark on a European album-release tour, take part in new cross-genre collaborations, and prepare to release her second album.
As she puts it: “I create stillness in motion.”

WURKIKONA
Wurkikona is a visual artist whose creative background is rooted in photography, structural design and visual design. Their work centers on the relationship between light, space and human perception, as well as the boundaries between natural and artificial environments. In interactive installations, light objects and stage works, they use light not simply as a means of illumination, but as an independent medium that shapes space and creates meaning. Their works often encourage active audience participation, reimagining the traditional relationship between the viewer and the artwork.
Key series in their practice include Landscapes (2017–), which explores the interaction between natural landscapes and human-made structures through site-specific light installations, and Cityscapes (2019–), a series of interactive works set in urban environments that visitors can shape themselves. Totem of Reflection (2020), an installation comprising four moving mirror modules, transforms the surrounding landscape into a fragmented, constantly changing composition. Among their earlier projects, Reimagination (2014–) focuses on the artistic reuse of waste materials and questions of sustainability, while Stagescapes (2014–) explores the spatial and dramaturgical potential of light in theatre.
In Wurkikona’s art, technological experimentation, geometric forms and poetic sensibility meet. Their works invite us to experience familiar spaces and materials in new ways, while also prompting reflection on the relationship between people, technology and the environment.
