Where does one body end and another begin? How can we be stronger together without losing our own boundaries? EchoSkin is a performance that crosses genres and art forms, bringing together contemporary dance, experimental singing, and costume as a living material. At its center are experimental singer Frauke Aulbert and dancer and choreographer Góbi Rita, who—with the contribution of their collaborators, costume designer Nagy Fruzsina and dramaturg Zsigó Anna —create a shared stage language through the constant interplay of movement, sound, and body. The performance explores various forms of symbiosis and codependency—mutual reliance, shared growth, intertwining, and their fragile balance.
Frauke Aulbert is a classically trained singer who, alongside opera singing, has mastered a range of traditional and contemporary vocal techniques, such as throat singing, beatboxing, and the North Indian Dhrupad tradition. She regularly performs new compositions by living composers, and also composes music and creates music-theater productions. Most recently, she performed in Budapest as part of the 2020 Transparent Sound New Music Festival.
Dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher Góbi Rita’s work is characterized by both meticulously crafted choreography and bold experimentation. Her style is defined by instinctive, monotonous, repetitive, miniature movements that unfold into bodily and physical-state transformations; her sequences of movement slowly and steadily evolve into one another. She continuously develops her unique technique, which is reflected in each of her choreographies. Their collaboration is sure to result in an irresistibly original and exciting performance.
