Dániel Szebényi: thirty-six
Szervezés:
Dániel Szebényi is a Hungarian songwriter, singer and keyboardist, and one of the most versatile creators on Hungary’s contemporary popular music scene. At the heart of his musical thinking is the modern analog revolution: the analog past and the digital present are not opponents, but two sides of a single process — the continuation lies between them. Songs written by the multiple award-winning artist have amassed more than 200 million streams across various digital platforms, and his work spans genres and is listened to by generations, both in Hungary and abroad.
In Hungary, Szebényi’s name is intertwined with some of the most important chapters in contemporary Hungarian music history. He was a member of Kowalsky meg a Vega, works with Gábor Presser and Mariann Falusi, and is a regular contributor to Random Trip. As the founder of the band godfater., he created a cult group together with Tibor Tátrai, whose Fonogram Award-winning debut album filled the Müpa and the country’s most prominent club stages. He appeared in several episodes of Dalfutár, and as a contestant on A Dal 2023 , he made it to the final with his performance.
His international presence is also notable: his keyboard playing can be heard on a cover of Fly Me to the Moon connected to the Netflix series Squid Game, earning him one of the most-streamed Hungarian piano solos. Since the summer of 2025, he has been touring as a member of Indian bass guitar phenomenon Mohini Dey’s band. His playing can be heard on recordings with global stars such as Willow Smith, Simon Phillips, Ghost-Note, Eric Moore and Jack Gardiner. He founded his own international band, Ocean Hills, with Zoltán Téglás and Péter Lukács. Their debut album was released worldwide by AFM Records in November 2020.
His first solo album, The Sun and the Moon, was released in November 2025. He presented it with his band to an audience of nearly a thousand at Várkert Bazár, with Gábor Presser, Viki Lábas, Iván Vitáris and Mátyás Szepesi as guests. The album features both miniature pieces for solo piano and full-band compositions, distilling five years of material into a single, entirely live analog recording, made without any retakes.
