SOLD-OUT - Between Two Sounds – Arvo Pärt’s Journey to His Musical Language
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The starting point for the Era Nova Chamber Orchestra's concert, which follows the entire life journey of Arvo Pärt, is a comic book by the Estonian graphic artist Joonas Sildre, which is also available in Hungarian, about the renowned composer who turns ninety this year. During the concert, we progress from his early experimental pieces towards the culmination of Pärt's artistry, represented by such popular and iconic masterpieces as Fratres and Spiegel im Spiegel. The performance is completed by Joonas Sildre's live comic animation, creating a unique and unrepeatable multidisciplinary art piece.
The Era Nova Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2021 under the leadership of Péter Kemény and Csongor Kiss. Its members are mainly students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, some of the most talented young musicians in the country. Their repertoire covers a wide spectrum, and their goal is to introduce the audience to lesser-known works and to perform well-known pieces in a new way. Despite its recent founding, the orchestra has already given many successful concerts at numerous venues and has won awards at several music competitions in Hungary and abroad.
Joonas Sildre is a graphic artist and illustrator based in Tallinn, whose main area of interest is the adaptation of real stories and artistic biographies into comic book format. His comic book Between Two Sounds (2018) tells the life story and musical journey of the renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The book has been translated into seven languages, including Hungarian. In addition to writing comics, he mainly works on illustrating children's books and educational materials.
The concert is being held with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Budapest.
