ArtMenők & HODWORKS: Idol
This program is held in Hungarian.
We look up to idols, idolize them, and imitate them. An idol is a person or role model that we can follow by common agreement. Idol. Who do we see before us when we hear this word? Yet, based on what normative ideas do we choose them? Where does it lead us if, instead of inclusive functioning, we follow idols who are actually strangers to us, designated in an exclusive manner, unsuccessfully?
The musical world of the performance is also an integral part of the production: the piano music of Rozi Mákó, composer of the original stage version, is performed live, with further sound enhancements in the new version. Kinga Ötvös contributes to the atmosphere with her singing voice. The music not only accompanies the performance, but also actively supports and guides it, subtly creating a connection between the scenes taking place in different locations and the audience's personal experience.
Adrienn Hód has been working with ArtMenők since the fall of 2022, in the form of in-depth rehearsal room research processes. The focus of the sessions is to enable young people with various disabilities and atypical bodies to explore unfamiliar terrain accompanied by HODWORKS dancers in a safe environment where they can express themselves through their own decisions.
The House of Music will not only be the venue, but also an active part of the performance: Idol will not take place on one stage, but in parallel etudes in several venues. The audience is free to move around the space, to choose where, what and for how long they watch, making the performance a constantly evolving, personal experience.
