The series Attention, Recording! offers a groundbreaking, new approach to providing a live music experience for those interested in musical creativity. On one hand, it gives insight into the world behind the scenes of bands, while on the other, it is an unrepeatable, one-time event where never-before-heard musical pieces are created in moments, in front of the audience, and even with their participation.
Few fuse Hungarian musical tradition and jazz into such an authentic and unique sound as Mihály Dresch and his quartet. Their music is a defining inspiration for many generations of our musicians, yet still open, experimental, and diverse to this day. What makes the merge of free jazz and traditional Hungarian music work so harmoniously? Where do they draw inspiration from after several decades of continuous creation? How deep is the world of Hungarian folk melodies, and where do we even define its boundaries? And why do Afro-American and Creole-origin accompaniments work so well with it?
