The Terep Project and Guests

Csaba Hajnóczy, known from Kampec Dolores and Kontroll Csoport, presents his latest project, which explores the field of acoustic ecology. In this spirit, he creates visually enhanced music through composition and improvisation based on field recordings. The soundscapes of the Terep Project, his collaboration with Ádám Darázs, will also be featured at the Pop Culture Club Library of the House of Music, alongside similar projects by Bálint János Kiss and Bori Sinkó.

Programme for the evening:

Bálint János Kiss: Machine Winds
20 minutes, fixed media

A sonic exploration of the machinery, measuring devices, ventilation systems, and spatial acoustics connected to the filtering, circulation, and cooling of Budapest's air.

Bálint János Kiss is a soundscape researcher and doctoral candidate at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). His practice-based research focuses on urban soundscapes, their potential for design, and the auditory qualities of rain and wind in the city. Complementing his artistic and design work, he also explores the relationship between soundscape and language, particularly affective vocabulary.

Bori Sinkó: Waterscapes
9 minutes, fixed media

This piece reflects on our sonic relationship with water and the changing of the seasons. It begins in spring, moves into summer, continues through autumn and winter, and finally circles back to relive spring and summer once again.

Andrea Borbála Sinkó (1984) is a film sound designer, improvisational musician, composer, and producer who incorporates field recordings and edited foley in her work. She studied electroacoustic composition at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and the Universität der Künste Berlin, and sound design at MOME.

Csaba Hajnóczy (Kontroll Csoport, Kampec Dolores, etc.) has been an active figure in the contemporary and alternative music scene since the 1980s. His current focus is on acoustic ecology, creating compositions and improvisations based on field recordings.

Ádám Darázs is a guitarist, experimental musician, and visual artist involved in numerous contemporary and improvisational music projects.

The Terep Project is inspired by the discovery of soundscapes and the compositional and improvisational possibilities of working with field recordings — in context with the visual exploration of the environments from which those sounds emerge.
